You'll need to powerwash your Chromebox if:
Your Wonder service has ended and you'd like to use the Chromebox for other purposes. (We release the device remotely, but if your kiosk was offline at the time, the release won't apply until you perform a powerwash.)
You have a used or previously owned Chromebox you want to enroll with Wonder.
Our Support Team has asked you to powerwash the device as part of troubleshooting.
⚠️ Please Note: A powerwash erases the device's local data and settings. It does not repair hardware issues, and it does not remove management if the device is still assigned to an organization.
Requirements/Tools Needed:
USB keyboard connected to the Chromebox
Exit Kiosk Mode and Reach the Sign-In Screen
If your Chromebox is already at the sign-in screen, skip ahead to the Powerwash section.
📖 Read all the steps first before you begin.
1. Press the power button once: A single, short press.
Two options appear on screen: Shut down and Sign out.
⚠️ Do not press and hold. Holding the power button shuts down the device. One quick press only.
2. Click Sign out, then immediately begin pressing Ctrl + Alt + S repeatedly.
Start the moment you click, don't wait to see what happens on screen. Keep pressing until the screen changes.
💡 Tip: If the Catalog Kiosk app loads back up instead, the timing was likely missed, repeat from step 1 and try again. Repeated presses won't cause any harm.
Still not working? Shut down the Chromebox completely, then power it back on. As it boots, press Ctrl + Alt + S repeatedly until the sign-in screen appears.
If neither method works, call our Support Team at (855) 408-9966 and we'll walk you through it.
3. Confirm you've exited Kiosk Mode.
You've succeeded when you see either the ChromeOS sign-in screen or a "No network available" message. Both mean you're out of Kiosk Mode.
Powerwash the Chromebox
1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R on the keyboard.
A dialog appears announcing a restart of the device.
2. Select Restart. The Chromebox reboots and displays the Powerwash screen.
3. Select Powerwash: A confirmation window appears asking you to confirm you want to proceed.
4. Select Continue: The device erases all local data and reboots into the first-time setup (Welcome) screen. Your powerwash is complete.
