How to Connect Wondersign to your WooCommerce Store (Getting Started)
Updated this week

Requirements/Tools Needed:

  • Active Subscription and Admin access to your WooCommerce account

  • An HTTPS WordPress address

  • At least WooCommerce 3.5+ and WordPress 4.4+

  • Wondersign Subscription with Access to Connectors or API ("Clicks" or higher)

  • Access to my.catalogkiosk.com using a Google Chrome web browser

Create the WordPress API Key

1. Log in to your WordPress account. From your admin console, go to Settings and select General.

Copy the WordPress Address (URL) field (you will need this in a later step).

3. Fill in the following information under Key details:

  • Description: This doesn't affect how the Connector will work, it is to help you identify the API key you create.

  • User: The selected user must have an Administrator role.

  • Permissions: The permissions must be set to Read/Write.

Next, click Generate API Key.

Please Note: Products, categories, attributes, tags, and images created by the Connector will be traced to the API Key user.

IMPORTANT NEXT STEP, PLEASE FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY!

4. An API key is generated. Copy the entire Consumer key and Consumer secret fields.

WooCommerce does not allow you to re-access and view this information later.

Please save your consumer key and consumer secret elsewhere before closing or exiting.

5. Finally, go to Settings > Permalinks and switch the Permalinks from the default "Plain" setting to what WordPress calls a "pretty" setting.

We recommend using "Post Name" as the preferred Permalink structure. More information about the "pretty" Permalink structure can be found here.

10. Complete the required information.

Virtual
  1. Name - Name your new virtual device by using the text box (e.g. "WooCommerce Store" or "My Website"). This is only visible to you and not the consumer.

  2. Address - Use the textbox to enter the address associated with your online store. (In most cases this is your physical store address).

  3. Timezone - select a timezone for your virtual device.

  4. Wondersign Connector - Select your newly connected WooCommerce store from the drop-down menu.

  5. Initialize settings from Device Group - Select the Device Group you would like to use for your virtual device's settings. This will determine what catalog(s)/products are loaded into your online store.

Click Finish.

11. When the installation is complete, you will be redirected back to the WooCommerce Connector's page in the Commerce Automation Manager. The Connector will show as set up and running with a green checkmark.

To configure sync settings, click the WooCommerce connector tile.

14. Category Hierarchy. Define how the connector manages your category structure.

  • From the 2nd level forward (default) - The category structure will skip the root level (department level) and start from the 2nd level forward in WooCommerce. Example: Living Room > Sofas.

  • From the Root level forward - The category structure will start from the root level (department level) forward in WooCommerce. Example: Furniture > Living Room > Sofas.

Please Note: Changing these settings triggers an immediate and complete sync between our Data API and WooCommerce.

15. Tag Management. Define how the connector manages product tags in WooCommerce.

  • ON (default) - All tags are managed by Wondersign. The Connector will create, update, and delete WooCommerce tags at the global and product level based on our product data feeds.

  • When selecting this option, the system will display a confirmation dialog warning that this action will replace all existing product tag data in your store, including manually created tags and tags created by other 3rd party plugins.

  • OFF - Product tags are not managed by Wondersign. Tags are not managed by the Connector.

Please Note: The WooCommerce Connector does not yet have write-only options for WooCommerce tags, attributes, and categories. It will delete any WooCommerce tag, attribute, and category not created by the connector. Advanced tag, attribute, and category management for WooCommerce is coming soon.

16. If changes have been made, click Save.

If the setup is successful, your device will begin syncing after 15 minutes. An initial sync may take hours depending on the catalog size.

IMPORTANT: Media Library Management

Every time the connector adds an image or video to a product or category, WooCommerce adds these assets to the WordPress Media Library.

When the connector deletes products and categories or removes their images and videos, WooCommerce does NOT delete them from the library. WooCommerce doesn't allow technical access to delete these assets from the Media Library.

To avoid filling the WordPress server with unnecessary and unused media, it is required to install a plugin app to manage and clean up the Media Library.

There are several plugins available. Please choose the one that best suits your WordPress and WooCommerce preferences and workflows.
